This is Belle

This is Chester

And this is their Story !

I live in Quebec Canada and I purchased Belle and Chester from
New Orleans,Louisiana ,USA..
Belle and Chester were to fly out of New Orleans Saturday August 14 2004,
together in the small travel crate with food sent with them by Arthur, (The man I
purchased the puppies from). They were to fly together in the same travel
crate because you see …….

Belle and Chester are only 8 and 9 wks old. Arthur put toys and fluffy
blankets in the bottom of their crate to make the flight comfortable.
Belle and Chester started their journey to get to me from New Orleans
at 10:48am and was to land in Ohio and get a connecting flight
on to Montreal ,Canada .The flight would land in Montreal at
5:40pm Saturday August 14 2004.

I am very excited about the arrival of my long awaited
puppies so I leave for Montreal at 11:30 am
as Montreal is several hours away from me.
I arrive at the Delta cargo bay to pick up my babies only to find
that they didn't even have the puppies in their
system (computer) !! I was so upset I was nearly in tears. It took the
Delta cargo guys in Montreal quite some time, which seemed
like hours to me to find the puppies.....they
had missed the connecting flight and were still in Ohio.
The men at the Cargo bay told me the puppies
would be on the next connecting flight to Montreal scheduled to
arrive in Montreal just after 10pm
Saturday night August 14 2004. Upset and worried to death
I went to the restaurant and had several cups of tea
and waited out the time thinking about my puppies..

Before leaving the Cargo Bay earlier the men told me to call an hour
before the flight was to arrive and that the pups would be
monitored because they had missed their first
connecting flight. Anxiously I waited for the time to
pass until 9pm so I could call the
Cargo bay and check on the pups and the flight time
arrival, and to make sure that there was no delays..
WELL my heart dropped and my
stomach was sick when I made that call
and they told me that the pups had missed that connecting
flight as well.
How could this happen? Two very small pups missed two back to back
connecting flights at
the same airport the same day!!! This horrifies me. The men at the Delta
Cargo bay in Montreal were very nice and they assured me
that the puppies would be taken to a shelter,
cleaned up, fed and given water at DELTA'S EXPENSE!!
This eased my heart a little. I had to get a room
in Montreal and spend the night ,something one never expects
to have to do when meeting an afternoon flight.
Anyhow I took a room at an extra $175.00( Bed and Breakfast)

Jade was good enough to take me in as I Don't know Montreal.
Her place was very nice but I could not sleep.
I was awake all night worried sick about the puppies. The next flight into
Montreal was to arrive at 12:30 pm.
I was told the pups would be at the Delta Cargo bay
between 1pm and 1:45 depending when
they got unloading cargo from the plane. I arrived at
the cargo bay Sunday August 15 2004
the following day. I still can't believe this ,
THE NEXT DAY!! At 1pm the men told me my puppies
were there and that they had given them a drink of water.
The stench from the little kennel was quite revolting. They said
by the smell coming from it that the puppies
had not been cared for as previously being assured they would.

When I let them out of the travel crate they smelled so badly
I could hardly breath. The little blankets Arthur had put in for them
was soaked from urine and feces. I had no choice,
everything into the garbage, the little toys and all.
The men in the Cargo pulled out a hose for me to use
to clean the pups up a little, and to hose out the travel
crate as there was so much feces in the bottom
and up the sides of the crate .It was all over the pups as well.
It took us nearly an hour to get everything
cleaned up enough to put it into the car. Thank
GOD I brought the big crate for travelling
from home. It took up the back seat of my car.
It had clean blankets in it and plenty of room to move around.

I am extremely displeased with Delta Airlines !!!
What was supposed to be a 7 hour flight
turned into a 30 hour nightmare for these
two little guys… I will NEVER
use Delta for flight again whether it be personal travel or
sending/receiving cargo.
Delta is no longer an option for me for air travel ,not after this
experience.

It is now Monday August 16 2004 and I am home from the vet
with Belle and Chester and they are both fine thus far.
They were both a little stressed out, Chester has a bad
rash on his tummy due to the feces stuck to him.
Belle is ok she is black so a rash is hard to see.
Chester has a bit of a swollen eye and a bit of discharge
but again the cream should look after all of this.
After hearing what they went through our vet is doing all the extras
just to make sure that Belle and Chester are fine.

It is now Wednesday morning and the rash is gone from Chester's tummy
and his eye is much better.
Belle she is a real rip snorter ,full of fun and plays just
like a puppy should.
I will post pictures of Belle and Chester as they grow ,they are
beautiful puppies .I am very proud of them both as I'm sure Arthur is .
You did a Wonderful job with these puppies Arthur and
you can be proud of them.

Well this pretty much ends Chester and Belles big ordeal. Now they spend
days in fun and games with plenty of food, water ,and love.......
PLEASE anyone out there considering flying their
animals anywhere check up on the history of animal flight with
that carrier.Ask plenty of questions, don't be shy and
don't be naive as I was. BUT NEVER WILL BE AGAIN !!!
Thanks for reading Chester and Belle's story.
